Early Access Release Delayed

Moonfrost Early Access was initially scheduled for the second half of May 2025. However, we will need to delay the release slightly to allow time for additional stress testing of our economic systems, which is essential for the Early Access experience and future of Moonfrost, we will keep you updated on the expected release date.

Episode Five: Build Mode, New Playable Character & Economy Teaser

In this episode, we were joined by Nuno, our Senior Software Programmer, who showcased how Moonfrost’s bespoke building system works and its exciting future use cases. We also previewed new gameplay economy items: Frost Workbenches, Frost Tools, and Charms.

If you haven’t had a chance to catch the streams, we’ve highlighted the key moments below.

Revealing New Items Tied to the Moonfrost Economy

Moonfrost Early Access marks a bold new chapter, introducing our live gameplay and integrated Web3 economy. Major gameplay and progression updates have landed let’s break them down:

1. Frost Workbenches

Frost Tools can now be crafted and upgraded at the new Frost Workbenches, which come in nine rarity tiers. The rarity of your Workbench determines the maximum rarity of Frost Tools you can craft.

For example, an Epic Workbench allows you to craft Common, Uncommon, Rare, and Epic Frost Tools (assuming you have the matching blueprints and crafting ingredients) but not Legendary or higher.

2. Frost Tools

Frost Tools are unique tools that grant you [redacted], allowing you to earn [redacted]. There are three types (currently more will be added): Axe, Pickaxe, and Fishing Rod, each available in up to nine rarities. Rarer tools offer greater [redacted] and enhanced durability.

Once broken, tools cannot be repaired—they must be crafted anew.

Note: Frost Tools cannot be traded.

The Team Goes On An Adventure

The team also showcased Moonfrost at GDLX, the UK’s largest indie game convention! Joe, Jase, Katie and Nuno presented the newest version of Moonfrost to the event attendees. The feedback was incredible and reaffirmed our belief that Moonfrost is raising the bar for web3 games.

April FAQ

Q. How did you go from slow Alpha updates to rapid new features?

Earlier Alpha builds focused on core systems. Releasing every 6–8 weeks was resource-heavy. We skipped AR6 to focus on packing more into Early Access, faster.

Q. Is there a date for Early Access?

Not yet, the release is now expected in late June following a slight delay.

Q. How long did it take to develop Build Mode?

The core system was developed early, but it's been refined over time. Altogether, it took about a year to complete.

Q. When will the Wiki be ready?

Very soon! Just a few final tweaks left. Expect the wiki release next week.

Q. Will Early Access bring back the ‘zombie grind’ from early Alphas?

Nope. We’ve rebalanced everything to avoid the 24-hour leaderboard grind. Moonfrost is a live service game, not a speed run. This is just the beginning of the adventure.

Q. What happens to FROST-Hunter Licenses?

All Web3 features will now run through our Open Loot integration. However, you’re not forced to port assets, you can still connect a wallet via Epic Games and retain key benefits, but to get the most out of the license it we’d advise using Open Loot.

Q. Will Moonfrost use Open Loot’s renting system?

Yes! Open Loot offers powerful tools that we plan to leverage for trading, renting, and more.

Now don't forget; Moonfrost will release in Early Access soon, be a good friend and tell your mates to Sign Up!
